Understanding roles in audio production

What’s the difference between an edit producer and an exec? Where does sound design end and mixing begin? What’s a development producer, production manager, studio engineer?

The roles that exist within the audio industry can vary a lot. Sometimes one person does almost every role on a production. Other times you see much larger teams, where each role is separated and more clearly defined.

We’re starting to build up some video explainers from people working in the industry, to hear exactly what their role is - and what that means for them.

Remember, these are broad takes - things can vary a lot depending on an individual’s skillset and the types of project! But here are some explainers to get you started.
